  • 2 application sites, with planning consent granted in absence of a Local Plan, based on the principle of sustainable development
  • 2 separate planning applications on greenfield agricultural land 
  • 280 new homes including 35% affordable homes across both site

PDI Activities & Achievements

  • PDI were appointed following the public exhibition to help manage significant local opposition to the proposals
  • Detailed and extensive engagement with Elmswell Parish Council, including presenting the proposals at a public meeting
  • Engagement with adjacent parish of Wetherden 
  • Engagement with ward councillors and the portfolio holder for housing 
  • Work to combat dissemination of inaccurate information by the parish council in relation to traffic movements through the village
  • Input into timetabling of the committee decision, taking into account other competing applications in the village
  • Drafting of responses to objections raised by local residents
  • Detailed pre committee liaison with officers and briefing provided to councillors, including development of a detailed fly through video to demonstrate how the proposals fit within the wider landscape
