  • Regeneration of high profile brownfield city centre site

  • Retain and integrate The Gables, The Memorial Wing and 60-62 Thorpe Road

PDI Activities & Achievements

  • Planning Committee voted unanimously in support of the application
  • A well attended public exhibition, which involved the local community, stakeholders and participation from the local primary school 
  • A scheme which secured cross party support from the council and support from the local MP
  • Briefings provided to the planning committee and ward members resulting in successful renegotiation of the S106 agreement 
  • Set up and running of a Community Liaison Group which included active participation of local councillors and stakeholders throughout key project phases including site demolition, construction and delivery of groundworks
  • Positive relations established with immediate site neighbours 
  • Engagement with The Peterborough School, to ensure site works were scheduled outside of important school calendar events, such as school exams  
  • Positive media activity including TV onsite, coverage of the demolition works and the official handover of land for the primary school to the local council
  • Drinks reception with local councillors and the MP held as part of the Peterborough Heritage Festival
  • Appointed by Kier Homes when they purchased the site from Lands Improvement to undertake additional community engagement
